Single bus fares are capped at £2 as part of a 12-month Scottish Government pilot across the Highlands and Islands.

The Scottish Government, working in partnership with HiTrans, is introducing a £2 Bus Fare Cap Pilot across the Highlands and Islands. For 12 months, single fares on participating routes are capped at £2. The pilot begins on Monday 23rd March 2026 in the Highlands, helping to make everyday travel more affordable. This means that you can travel on any of Shiel Buses services for no more than £2 on an adult or child 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭. That’s right! You can travel with us on your daily commute or visits all around glorious Lochaber be it Mallaig, Spean Bridge, Fort William, Acharacle, Kinlochleven, Kilchoan or all that’s in between for no more than £2!
